Putting Outdoor Spaces to Work

How To / July 31,2013

A trend to blend the best of indoor comfort and utility with outdoor living is blurring the line between inside and outside in homes. Decking will need to be resistant to stains and dropped implements, particularly when you are cooking outdoors. Latitudes decking achieves that by coating a composite material with a hard polymer coating designed to take some wear and tear. Its decking also provides a water-resistant surface that is easy on bare feet and tough enough to take a hot-tub.

Even electronics like TV and wifi are moving outdoors. To hark back to some old-fashioned simplicity, hang a bed-sheet as a cinema screen and project your favourite movie into the summer air. Furniture is also heading outdoors, with all-weather versions of cushions, seating, storage and even workspaces now regularly being produced by furniture designers. Floors are being increasingly modernised. Composite decking comes in a much bigger range of colours than the traditional deck-brown, and can be used to enhance and complement the interior decor of your home. Stylish sconces, solar lights and glittery LED's are now lighting up outdoor areas, enabling more outdoor entertaining no matter what time of the day it is.
